MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny volleyball team ran its winning streak to seven matches with a pair of victories on the opening day of the Allegheny Gator Invitational.

In the opener, the Gators defeated Waynesburg, 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-19, 25-21), before blanking Chatham in the night cap, 3-0 (25-26, 25-22, 25-18). The wins improve the Gators to 8-2 on the year.

In the first match, the Gators won their 16th straight set before Waynesburg took the second set. The Gators rebounded strong in sets three and four to seal the win.

Emma Chambers (Stoutsville, Ohio/Amanda Clearcreek) led Allegheny with 11 kills.Â
Cheyenne Wilson (Chico, Calif./Pleasant Valley) added eight kills while
Kendall Crum (Chattanooga, Tenn./Girls Preparatory) and
Dagney Javes (Ferederick, Colo./Dawson School) had seven apiece. Wilson and
Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) had three aces each while
Olivia D'Andrea (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) had two. D'Andrea led the Gators with 18 assists while Robare contributed 13.

Four Gators finished with double-digit dig totals as
Taylor Besch (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) led the way with 14. D'Andrea and Wilson had 14 and 12 digs, respectively, while
Kate Christie (Schenectady, N.Y./Niskayuna) had 10. As a team, the Gators totaled three solo blocks. Â

In the nightcap, the Gators defeated Chatham in straight sets.Â
India McCruter (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) led the attack with seven kills. Wilson, Crum and Chambers had six kills apiece while Javes had five. Once again, D'Andrea had three, while Robare had two. D'Andrea also led the Gators with 14 assists while Robare tallied 11.

Defensively, D'Andrea had a team-best nine digs. Besch totaled eight while Kristie had seven. The Gators front had a solid effort defensively, totaling 13 blocks. Javes had four total blocks (two solo, two assisted) while Wilson had three (two solo, one assisted). Â

The Gators will close out play at their annual home invitational with a pair of matches on Saturday, Sept. 18. At 11 a.m., the hosts will compete against La Roche, before taking on Mount Aloysius at 1 p.m.
