MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny volleyball team opened their 2021 season at home against Westminster.
 
The Gators fell in the opener 3-1 (25-17, 15-25, 25-14, 25-22).
 
Three Gators finished with a double-digit kill total.  
Cheyenne Wilson (Chico, Calif./Pleasant Valley) led the way with 13 kills. 
Kendall Crum (Chattanooga, Tenn./Girls Preparatory) finished with 12 while 
Emma Chambers (Stoutsville, Ohio/Amanda Clearcreek) added 10.  Defensively, a trio of Gators had double-digit digs.  Libero 
Taylor Besch (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) tallied 17 while Wilson had 13 and 
Kate Christie (Schenectady, N.Y./Niskayuna) contributed 10.  
Olivia D'Andrea (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) led the Gators with 24 assists, while 
India McCruter (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) totaled three blocks.
 
The Gators return to action this weekend as they travel to Latrobe to compete in the Saint Vincent Bearcat Challenge Sept. 3-4.
