WOOSTER, Ohio -- In the first North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) match in program history, the Allegheny men's lacrosse team was tripped up on the road at Wooster, 17-9.
Nick Gralewski's (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) initial goal doubled as the first Allegheny goal of the 2021 campaign and the first of his career. He would go on to score another in the third quarter for a multi-goal performance in the game.
Patrick Hogan (London, Ontario/St. Andre Bessett) led the offensive effort for the Gators by scoring three goals and passing out an assist for a total of four points on the night.
David Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) chipped in with two goals and an assist for three points of his own.
Zackery Devers (Kapolei, Hawaii/Kapolei) and
Mack Nevin (Innisfil, Ontario/Natyr Shores) rounded out the goal scorers for Allegheny.
Defensively,
Cassady Bouthet (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) led the Gators in both ground balls (5) and caused turnovers (2).
Colin Deubell (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) scooped up four ground balls and caused a turnover.
David Kratzenberg (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) and
Eric Mirkovich (York, Pa./York Central) split time in net and combined for 14 saves in the contest.
The two teams continue their NCAC set on Saturday, April 10 at Frank B. Fuhrer Field in Meadville. Face-off of the first home men's lacrosse game in program history is scheduled for 1 p.m.
