GAMBIER, Ohio --
Conor Deasy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) dealt his second-straight complete game shutout in game one of a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) doubleheader with Kenyon. The Gators won both games by scores of 4-0 and 3-1.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Deasy struck out the last batter swinging to get out of a bases-loaded jam and preserve the win for the Gators. He only surrendered four hits and sent six batters back to the dugout on strikes. Deasy has now pitched 14.2 innings of shutout baseball in three-straight wins dating back to the fifth inning of the 6-4 win over Wooster on April 7.Â
Chase Chodkowski (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West)
Dalton DuBois (Bemus Point, N.Y./Maple Grove) and
Ryan Dougherty (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) led Allegheny's offense with two hits apiece. Dougherty accounted for two of the Gators' four RBIs.Â
Brett Heckert (Wexord, Pa./North Allegheny) got the first run of the game for Allegheny with an RBI single to left center in the top of the first inning.Â
The Gator pitching staff continued to dominate the doubleheader as
Nolan Thompson (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) took the mound in the night cap. Through seven innings of work, Thompson only gave up one run on three total hits and struck out three batters for his second win of the 2021 campaign.
Heckert and
Luke Chutko (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) paced Allegheny's offense with two hits and an RBI each. Dougherty also drove in a run in the second game. Â
Allegheny will return to action on Saturday for a nonconference doubleheader with Ohio Wesleyan. First pitch from the Robertson Athletic Complex is scheduled for 1 p.m.Â
