MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Allegheny won both games of a nonconference doubleheader over Hiram by scores of 5-0 and 4-3 to complete the six-game series.
During the matinee,
Hunter Lohr (Bowdoinham, Maine/Mt. Ararat) earned his second win of the season on the mound for the Gators. Lohr's first five of six innings pitched were no-hit as his only two hits of the afternoon came in the top of the sixth. Of his career-high 10 strikeouts, he got six batters swinging and struck out the side in the top of the second.
Garrett Senchur (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) shut the door on Hiram, not allowing a hit in his inning of relief and striking out two.
Chase Chodkowski (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) and
Ben Kosbie (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) led the Gator offense in game one with a 1-for-3 day at the plate and an RBI.
Luke Chutko (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) notched a hit, drew a walk and came around to score.
Jacob Budnar (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.
In the night cap,
Brett Heckert (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) hit a walk-off single that scored
Dalton DuBois (Bemus Point, N.Y./Maple Grove) from second to secure the home sweep.
DuBois put Allegheny in position to take the lead just two innings prior with a ringing, pinch hit double off the fence in left that scored Budnar and tied the game at three in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Heckert led the Gators at the plate during game two with a pair of hits and RBIs. Chutko also recorded a multi-hit game with a 2-for-3 day at the dish.
Tyler Hettich (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) and Chodkowski both notched a hit each.
Preston Pierce (Camano Island, Wash./Stanwood) earned his first career win on the mound in game two, working out of a two-on, one-out jam in relief.
Allegheny's next games are scheduled for Wednesday, a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) doubleheader with Kenyon. First pitch from Robertson Athletic Complex is slated for 1 p.m.
