Allegheny bounces back in nightcap for DH split at Hiram

HIRAM, Ohio -- Allegheny split a pair of road North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) matchups with Hiram on Saturday.

The Gators dropped the first game, 4-2, and rallied to take the second game, 9-4.  After 11 games, Allegheny's record sits at 7-4 overall and 4-4 in NCAC competition.

During the first game, Tyler Hettich (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) and Ben Kosbie (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) drove in the Gator runs.

In game two, Allegheny scored four runs in the first inning and three runs in sixth en route to a 9-4 win.

Luke Chutko (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and Seth Reisman (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) powered the Allegheny offense with two RBIs each. Dalton DuBois (Bemus Point, N.Y./Maple Grove) recorded an RBI on a sacrifice fly and Isaiah Lucas (Butler, Pa./Butler) drove in a run by virtue of a single through the left side.

Chutko also notched a team-best 2-for-4 at the plate during the night cap.

On the mound, Daniel Morgano (Allison Park, Pa./Vincentian Academy) earned his first career win. Through 6.2 innings, he struck out seven, including four batters looking and three swinging. He only gave up two runs and did not allow a walk.  Preston Pierce (Camano Island, Wash./Stanwood) shut the door for the final out in relief.

The two teams will play a nonconference set at Robertson Field in Meadville tomorrow, Sunday, April 18, beginning at 1 p.m.
