WOOSTER, Ohio -- The Gators swept doubles play and captured four-of-six singles matches to earn a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC)-opening 7-2 win at Wooster.

The victory improves the Allegheny women's tennis team to 1-1 and 1-0 in the NCAC Eastern division. The two teams will be back in action on Sunday, April 11, with the current plan set for an 11 a.m. start indoors at the David V. Wise Center due to expected overnight rain. Weather permitting, the match will be played outside at the Robertson Athletic Complex tennis courts.

Katherine Marks (Argyle, Texas/Liberty Christian) and Gaby DeLeon (Weatherford, Texas/Weatherford) earned an 8-5 victory at first doubles before taking a pair of close singles matches at the top two spots. Marks won her first singles match 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 and DeLeon rallied from one set down for the three-set triumph at second singles, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Ella Swan (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg Academic) and Jean-Arlette Legrand (San Juan, Puerto Rico) cruised to an 8-2 second doubles win, while Katherine Stancil (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) and Allison Riley (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) played a hotly contested third doubles match that finished 8-7 (11-9). Swan and Stancil were both victorious at third and fifth singles, respectively, with Swan scoring a 6-4, 6-0 win and Stancil collecting a 7-6 (7-0), 6-0 triumph.
