Wooster defeats Allegheny in NCAC play

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Allegheny men's basketball team was unable to overcome a halftime deficit as they fell on the road 77-60 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play against Wooster Wednesday (Dec. 8).

Caden Hinckley (Boise, Idaho/Mt. Lebanon (Pa.)) led the Gators with a 15 point, 12 rebound double-double. The double-double marks his fifth consecutive game with one. He also led the team with four assists. Brian Roberts, Jr. (Copley, Ohio/Copley) finished the game with 14 points. Jordan Greynolds (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton) added nine points and five rebounds while Preston Turk (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) scored seven points.

The Gators scored the opening five points of the game off a Roberts, Jr. three and a Mike Noonan (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) basket. The Fighting Scots scored the next five points en route to taking a 13-9 lead. Allegheny responded with an 8-0 run, paced by four points from Hinckley. Wooster slowly chipped away at the lead, eventually tying the game at 22. After the teams exchanged three pointers, Wooster went on a 12-0 run to take control. A Greynolds three late in the half cut the lead to 39-31 at the break. After trading baskets to start the second half, the Fighting Scots controlled the momentum the rest of the way to secure the win.

The Gators return to the court December 17 when they travel to Ohio Wesleyan for a NCAC game.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6 pm.
