MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny women's basketball team continued its four-game homestand Saturday (Nov. 13), dropping a 60-51 nonconference decision against Fredonia.
The teams matched each other in the first quarter with neither side leading by more than four as they found themselves tied at 13-13 after 10 minutes. The Gators came out strong in the second quarter, going on a 6-0 run to take control, 19-13. The Blue Devils answered with six straight points of their own to lock it up at 19-19. Allegheny controlled the pace down the final stretch of the half, outsourcing Fredonia 8-2 to own a 27-21 halftime lead.
Fredonia controlled the third quarter, outscoring the Gators 20-6 to take a 41-33 lead into the final frame. The Gators were unable to bounce back from that Fredonia lead as they ultimately fell, 60-51.
Emily Lauer (Knox, Pa./Keystone) led the Gators with 13 points, also adding eight rebounds and three steals.
Branygan Bianchin (Wexford, Pa./North Catholic) joined Lauer in double figures with 11 points, including a trio of trifectas.
Jenna Manke (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) recorded eight points and five rebounds and
Alexis Caldwell (Whitefish Bay, Wisc./Whitefish Bay) totaled seven points, nine rebounds and three steals.
The Gators remain at home Wednesday (Nov. 17) when they host Geneva at 6 p.m.
