Pair of late scores take down Gators at UPG, 3-1

GREENSBURG, Pa. -- In its final nonconference match of the 2021 season, Allegheny dropped a 3-1 decision on a pair of late scores at Pitt-Greensburg.

After Pitt-Greensburg scored 41 seconds into play, the Gators answered just 35 seconds later. Lilly Noel (Shepherdstown, W. Va./St. James) scored her first career goal, sending the ball to the top right corner to tie the game.

The two teams remained knotted at 1-1 until the 83rd minute when Pitt-Greensburg scored the eventual game winner. UPG found the back of the net once again in the 89th minute to set the final margin.

Noel, Taylor McKindley (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic) and Julieta Schworm (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) each had two of Allegheny's seven shots in the match.

Gabby Culotta (Willoughby, Ohio/Andrews Osborne Academy) made one save in holding down the goal for the first half, while Kaitlynn Rees (Anaheim, Calif./Fullerton Union) made two saves while playing keeper for the second half.

The Gators resume North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) competition by hosting Oberlin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12 on the Robertson Blue Turf.
