Penalty corners lead to all scores in 2-1 loss to Earlham

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny field hockey team returned to North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play, dropping a 2-1 decision against Earlham on Saturday (Oct. 9).

Earlham got on the board in the first quarter, scoring off a penalty corner. The goal would remain 1-0 until halfway through the fourth quarter as Kinsley Greenlaw (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) scored on a deflection off a penalty corner, assisted by Becca Winton (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle). However, the Quakers scored the go-ahead goal just a minute later off another penalty corner, hanging onto the one goal lead to seal the win.

The Gators held a 7-5 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in corners.  Bella Cowen (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Day School) led the team with two shots on goal. In net, Hallie Reiger (Oklahoma City, Okla./Casady) made three saves.

The Gators continue their doubleheader weekend with another NCAC match on Sunday, Oct. 10, hosting DePauw at 1 p.m.
