MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny field hockey team wrapped up its weekend conference matchups, falling 1-0 against DePauw on Sunday (Oct. 10). With the loss, the Gators drop to 5-6, 0-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC).
The Tigers struck in the first quarter, in the 13th minute of play. Both sides were held scoreless for the final three quarters. Overall, both teams had six shots on goal.
Bella Cowen (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Day School) paced the Gators with four drives on target. Meanwhile,
Kelsey Anderson (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) and
Ella O'Connor (Haddon Township, N.J./Haddon Township) also made scoring attempts on DePauw's net.
Both teams showcased an aggressive style of play throughout the game. The Tigers racked up three green cards, whereas the Gators had one green card and one yellow card.
Defensively, goalkeeper
Hallie Reiger (Oklahoma City, Okla./Casady) kept the game close with four saves.
Allegheny looks to split its current four-game home stand on Friday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m against Denison.
