MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny women's soccer team returned home to take down Geneva in overtime, 2-1, in a soggy nonconference match Monday (Oct. 4).
Natasha Rosa (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) scored the game-winning goal 6:19 into the first overtime period off an assist by
Lilly Noel (Shepherdstown, W. Va./St. James), sneaking the ball just under the crossbar from inside the 6-yard box and breaking the tie to give Allegheny its fourth win of the season and third on the Blue Turf of the Robertson Athletic Complex.
The Gators rebounded to force overtime late in regulation when
Emily Orr (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon Area) knotted the score at 1-1 with 19 seconds remaining. Orr's first goal of the season was assisted by
Taylor McKindley (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic) and came at a crucial moment to help set the table for the victory.
Orr led the Blue & Gold with five shots in the match, while Rosa and
Olivia Ernest (Mt. Lebanon, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) each posted four shots.
Chloe MacLaren (Earleton, Fla. / PK Yonge Developmental Research School) earned the win in her first collegiate action, making five saves in playing all 96:19.
