MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Allegheny volleyball lost 3-1 to Denison (21-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-12) on Saturday (Oct. 23) in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) matchup. With the defeat, Allegheny falls to 14-8, 2-5 NCAC.

The Gators won the first set thanks to three kills each from Kendall Crum (Chattanooga, Tenn./Girls Preparatory), Dagney Javes (Frederick, Ohio/Dawson School) and India McCruter (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson). Overall, Crum led the team with 12 kills, whereas Javes and McCruter compiled eight and seven kills respectively.

Allegheny nearly completed a comeback in the second set. Denison led 15-8 after winning nine consecutive points. However, the Gators erased the seven-point deficit by tying up the Big Red at 18 apiece. The two teams then traded points until the score was 20-20. However, Denison ended the set with a 5-2 run before limiting Allegheny to 20 points less in the last two sets than in the first two sets.

Cheyenne Wilson (Chico, Calif./Pleasant Valley) kept the Gators within striking distance by having two kills in the second set, whereas Olivia D'Andrea (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) added three assists in the frame. Wilson racked up six kills throughout the game and paced the team with two service aces. Meanwhile, D'Andrea accumulated a team-best 18 assists in the contest. Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) also totaled double-digit assists with 12 of her own.

Defensively, Javes put together five blocks, and Taylor Besch (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) amassed 12 digs.

Allegheny will play their last NCAC game of the season at home for senior day against Wooster on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.
