SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- The Allegheny field hockey team traveled to Wittenberg for a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) contest Saturday (Oct. 23).

The Gators fell to the Tigers 1-0. The loss drops the Gators to 7-8 for the season.

The Wittenberg goal came in the opening frame on an unassisted shot.

Allegheny held a 4-2 advantage in penalty corners though the Tigers had a 9-5 shot advantage.Â
Ramsay Smith (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) and
Becca Winton (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) had shots on goal.

Meredythe Baird (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) got the start in the cage, making a pair of saves.

The Gators return home Tuesday as they play host to Wooster at 7 pm on the Robertson Blue Turf.
