GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Allegheny field hockey squad saw its three-match winning streak come to an end as it dropped the 2021 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) opener by a 2-0 count on the road at Kenyon.
The Gators fall to an even 4-4 overall on the season and 0-1 in league play with the loss. However, the four wins already in 2021 has doubled the total from the program's inaugural season of 2019.
The two teams had a six shot differential, as Kenyon lead 17-11, but Allegheny posted 10 of its shots on goal, to just seven for the Ladies. Pacing the Gators attack was
Bella Cowen (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) with six shots (all on goal).
Debbie Nalesnik (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) added a pair of shots on goal of her own.
Hallie Reiger (Oklahoma City, Okla./Casady) made five saves in goal over the course of the 60 minutes of game time.
Allegheny will host Medaille in a nonconference match at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
