HIRAM, Ohio -- Allegheny fell to Hiram in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) matchup on Tuesday (Oct. 19), 3-1 (25-11, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15). Allegheny drops to 14-7, 2-4 NCAC.
The Gators finished out the second set on a 6-4 run and took their momentum into the third set. The Terriers led 22-21 and although the referees originally called the next point in favor of Hiram, Allegheny was given the point instead. The Gators then began the final set with an 11-9 lead, before allowing six straight points to change the tide of the contest.
Offensively,
Kendall Crum (Chattanooga, Tenn./Girls Preparatory) paced Allegheny with 10 kills, while
Cheyenne Wilson (Chico, Calif./Pleasant Valley) followed suit with eight kills of her own. Meanwhile,
Olivia D'Andrea (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) led the Gators with 22 assists.
Defensively,
Taylor Besch (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) delivered 18 digs, whereas Wilson was second with 11 digs. Additionally,
India McCruter (Columbus, Ohio./Hilliard Davidson) compiled four blocks, three unassisted.
Allegheny heads back to the David V. Wise Center in Meadville, Pa. on Saturday, Oct. 23 as they take on Denison in an NCAC matchup.
