ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Allegheny men's lacrosse team suffered a 12-2 road loss to Mount Union on Wednesday.
Reigning North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Athlete of the Week Patrick Hogan (London, Ontario / St. Andre Bessett) scored the first goal of the second quarter, and his 11th of the season, after capitalizing on a feed from the stick of David Kraus (Sewickley, Pa. / Quaker Valley), cutting the Purple Raider lead to 3-1midway through the first half.
Spanning from the back half of the second quarter through late portion of the fourth quarter, the Purple Raiders scored eight unanswered goals before Zackery Devers (Kapolei, Hawaii / Kapolei) added an unassisted goal of his own with just over six minutes remaining in regulation.
Mount Union tacked on a late goal to seal the home win.
Defensively, David Kratzenberg (Greensburg, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic) recorded 11Â saves during his time in net.
In addition to his assist, Kraus led the team with six groundballs and three caused turnovers. Hogan added four groundballs while Devers and Nick Jordan (Amherst, N.H. / Souhegan) had three apiece. Tim Wallis (Shady Side, Md. / Southern) tallied a pair of caused turnovers while six other Gators registered the stat as well.
Allegheny will return to action on Saturday when they face McDaniel on the road. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
