TAMPA BAY, Fla. -- Allegheny alumnus and former defensive standout Dale Shaw '91 has made history as a member of the first-ever all-Black officiating crew in the history of the National Football League.

The hand-picked, seven-member unit officiated the Monday Night Football game between the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium on November 23, 2020, which aired on ESPN.

Shaw has been an NFL official since 2013 and has been involved in over 100 games to date, including three playoff games, while serving mostly in the roles of Back Judge, Field Judge and Side Judge.

The Tarentum, Pennsylvania native made history as the Field Judge alongside the following crew, led by Referee Jerome Boger:

Umpire -- Barry Anderson
Side Judge -- Anthony Jeffries
Line Judge -- Carl Johnson
Down Judge -- Julian Mapp
Back Judge -- Greg Steed

As a senior member of the 1990 National Championship Gator football team, Shaw recorded 47 total tackles, two pass breakups and an interception at the strong safety position. That team and its accomplishments were recently recognized with a two-week celebration of the 30th anniversary, for more information on that season, visit: https://alleghenygators.com/news/2020/11/21/football-1990-game-fourteen-ncaa-championship-allegheny-21-lycoming-14-ot.aspx.
