DELAWARE, Ohio—The Allegheny women's basketball team was unable to overcome a fast start by the Battling Bishops, falling in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play at Ohio Wesleyan, 83-66, Saturday (Jan. 25).
Zoe Youdell (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville) finished the game with a team-high 14 points. She also gathered five rebounds.
Julianna Skowron (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) had close to a double-double, finishing with 13 points and nine rebounds. She also assisted on two baskets.
Zoe Soilis (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) ended the game with 12 points, two rebounds and two steals.
Rylee Donovan (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area) was the fourth Gator to finish in double-digits, scoring 11 points. She also tied for a game-high with six assists, while also tallying four rebounds and two steals.
Jenna Manke (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) was close to double-digits, finishing with eight points.
Ohio Wesleyan led 22-11 at the end of the first, and extended the lead to 46-29 at the half. In the third, the Battling Bishops outscored the Gators 18-11 to take a 64-40 lead into the final frame. The Gators outscored their counterparts 26-19 in the fourth, but were unable to overcome the disadvantage.
The Gators are back on the road Wednesday (Jan. 29) when they travel to Wooster for a NCAC contest.
