MEADVILLE, Pa.— The Allegheny women's basketball team fell in a home North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) tilt against Oberlin, 52-42, Wednesday evening (Jan. 22).
Julianna Skowron (Sewickely, Pa./Oakland Catholic) led the Gators with 16 points, tied for the game-high. She also collected five rebounds.
Alexis Caldwell (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) tallied her first career double-double, going for 12 points and a season-high 13 rebounds. She also led the team with three steals.
Zoe Soilis (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) contributed five points with three assists.
Zoe Youdell (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville) was second on the team with nine rebounds to go alongside four points.
Rylee Donovan (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area) ended the game with four points.
The Gators won the battle of the boards, outrebounding Oberlin 45-27.
Oberlin built a 28-16 lead by halftime, and increased it to 47-33 entering the fourth.
The Gators fought back in the final frame, cutting the lead down to 47-39 with just under four minutes to play. However, the Yeowomen did not let the lead drop below that as they closed out the game down the stretch.
The Gators are back on the road Saturday (Jan. 25) when they travel to Ohio Wesleyan for a NCAC contest.
