MEADVILLE, Pa. - The Allegheny men's soccer team came up short in a 2-1 double-overtime thriller against Baldwin Wallace on Thursday (Sept. 5).
The Gators tallied the first score of the game in the 22nd minute as
Eddie Opalko (Springdale, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) scored his second goal of the season.
Rory Simpson (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) collected the ball to the right of the penalty box, crossed it to
Ryan Clydesdale (South Park, Pa./South Park), to the left of the goal, who pushed the ball into the goalie box and found the foot of Opalko for the score.
Eight minutes later, Baldwin Wallace tied the game with a goal from Andras Fabian. This score held throughout the rest of regulation, and then after a scoreless first overtime, the Yellow Jackets scored the golden goal in the 109th minute off the foot of Danny Ruple.
