MEADVILLE, Pa. - The Allegheny women's soccer team dropped its first home game of the season as the Gators fell to North Coast Athletic Conference foe Kenyon 1-0 in double overtime on Saturday (Sept. 28).
The Gators and Ladies took the game to the final thirty seconds of the second overtime period, but a free kick from Kenyon found its way through the Allegheny defense and a Kenyon attacker was able to collect the set piece and score.
Allegheny and Kenyon battled for the length of the game, with Allegheny outshooting Kenyon 14-13. 12 corner kicks occurred between the two and Allegheny held the advantage with seven.Â
Maya Hackman (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) made seven saves with her start in net.
The Gator trio of
Taylor Renk (Cranberry Township, Pa./Oakland Catholic),
Emily Orr (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon Area), and
Shannon McGuinn (Warminster, Pa./William Tennant) tallied three shots each, with Renk and McGuinn notching two on goal.
Amy Barra (Coral Springs, Fla,/Cardinal Gibbons) is the only other Gator with multiple shots, as she took two.Â
Allegheny returns to the pitch one week from today (Oct. 5) for another home conference game, as Robertson Athletic Complex plays host to Denison. Kickoff is slated for 12:00 p.m.
