MEADVILLE, Pa. - The Allegheny men's tennis team defeated both Ohio Northern (5-4) and Grove City (5-1) at the Nancy and Harvey Heath Invitational, the Gators annual home tournament.
Wonjoon Cho (Wichita, Kan./Wichita Collegiate School) and
Cooper Miller (Falconer, N.Y./Falconer Central) swept both their doubles matches with scores of 8-6 and 8-3.
Mackenzie Knowlton (Toronto, Ont./Niagara Academy of Tennis) and
Adam Shinomiya (Portland, Ore./International School of Beaverton) also won both of their matches with equivalent sets of 8-5.
Ewan Malenfant (Dover, Del./Saint Thomas More) and
Fabrizzio Reategui (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Prep. International) lost a close 8-6 match in game one before taking their second match 8-3.
In singles, Cho won 6-4 and 6-0 against Ohio Northern. Miller won both of his matches by sets of 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, and 6-3, while Malenfant also swept his competition in two matches (6-4. 6-2, 6-0, 6-3).
The Gators return to the court for their final game of the 2019 fall season as they host Houghton at the Robertson Tennis Courts on Monday (Sept. 30).
