Victor sets Allegheny career receptions record in loss at OWU

DELAWARE, Ohio -- Alex Victor (Miami, Fla./G. Holmes Braddock) now holds all three Allegheny career receiving records as his 12-catch performance in the Gators' 28-10 loss at Ohio Wesleyan gave him the receptions mark as well.

The senior finished the game against the Battling Bishops with 12 catches for 88 yards, giving him 169 receptions and passing the previous mark of 167 that had stood since 2003. He also added a touchdown, his 33rd, and now sits 101 yards shy of 3,000 for his career.

Nazareth Greer (Apache Junction, Ariz./Marcos De Niza) saw his streak of 300-yard passing games snapped as the junior threw for 197 yards on 20 completions. He fired the touchdown to Victor and was also intercepted once. Trey Adams (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) was Allegheny's leading rusher, posting 39 yards on nine carries.

Allegheny trailed, 14-3, at halftime as Nick Leinenweber (Neptune Beach, Fla./Episcopal School) connected on the first field goal of his career from 32 yards out with three seconds remaining in the first half. The Gators cut the deficit to 14-10 early in the third quarter as the defense forced an OWU three-and-out on the opening drive and the offense went 60 yards on 10 plays, capped by the 10-yard scoring strike from Greer to Victor. It was the last time Allegheny lit the scoreboard, however, and the Battling Bishops tacked on a pair of rushing touchdowns to seal the decision.

Recently named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy (also referred to as the 'Academic Heisman'), Kyle McGee (Manilus, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manilus) led all players with 12 tackles (including 2.0 tackles for loss), going into double digits for the third time in as many games, and the sixth time in his career. Corey Laskey (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) reached double digits for the second time this year, turning in 10 tackles. Hudson Alread (Victor, N.Y./Victor) was third on the team with eight stops and Chase Balla (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) added six tackles and 2.0 TFL. Quinten Hunt (Buckeye, Ariz./Buckeye) recorded five tackles, forced a fumble and blocked a kick, while Jake Fedell (Allison Park, Pa./The Kiski School) recovered a fumble.

Allegheny will return home to the friendly confines of Frank B. Furhrer Field next Saturday, Oct. 5 for a 6 p.m. match-up with defending NCAA automatic qualifier Denison.
