Denison deals Allegheny 42-7 NCAC setback

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Senior Corey Laskey (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) recorded the sixth 20-tackle game in program history, but Allegheny was dealt a 42-7 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) loss by Denison at Frank B. Fuhrer Field.

Laskey finished the game with a career-high 20 stops, the most by a Gator since Andy Toner made the same amount against Carnegie Mellon on Sept. 22, 2007. Eight of Laskey's 20 tackles came in the fourth period as the senior made two stops in the first, four in the second and six in the third quarters.

The Big Red opened up a 42-0 lead before quarterback Nazareth Greer (Apache Junction, Ariz./Marcos De Niza) hit Ben Bachik (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) on a 17-yard scoring strike in which the 6-6 Bachik used his entire frame to reach the ball across the goalline as he was going to the ground. The drive, which was Allegheny's longest of the game, covered 75 yards over four plays, including a pair of rushes by Greer that totaled 30 yards and a 28-yard completion to Bachik the play before his touchdown.

Greer completed 9-of-19 passes for 140 yards and a score, while also being Allegheny's top rusher with 34 yards on six carries. Bachik's three grabs and 53 yards led the team, while Austin French (Beaver Falls, Pa./Beaver Falls) snagged a pair of passes for 35 yards.

Chase Balla (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) made nine tackles (six solo) and added a half sack, fumble recovery, pass break up and quarterback hurry. Kyle McGee (Manilus, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manilus) finished with eight tackles, a half sack and two QB hurries. Darian Parrish (Princeton, Fla./Miami Palmetto) had a pair of half sacks for a total of 1.0, along with three total stops. Josh Miller (Griffith, Ind./Griffith) recorded his first career interception to go along with five tackles.

Allegheny will travel to Wittenberg for a 12 p.m. kickoff in Springfield, Ohio on Saturday, Oct. 12.
