ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Allegheny men's tennis team defeated Mount Union 5-4 as it won four of its six singles matches.
In singles play, the Gators number two
Adam Shinomiya (Portland, Ore./International School of Beaverton) handled Jacob Barton with scores of 6-3 and 6-1.
Ewan Malenfant (Dover, Del./Saint Thomas More) defeated Justin Kelly with scores of 6-1 and 7-6 (11-9) before
Elijah Gabriel (Bogart, Ga./Clarke Central) won with sets 6-2 and 6-4 over Jordan Rosedale.
Mackenzie Knowlton (Toronto, Ont./Niagara Academy of Tennis) clinched the win as he dropped the first set by a score of 6-3 but came back to defeat Zach Teffner with scores of 7-6 (7-4) and 11-9 in the tiebreaker
For doubles, Allegheny won its doubles two match as Knowlton and Shinomiya defeated Tony Massucci and Kelly by scores of 8-7 (7-2).
The Gators return home for the Harvey and Nancy Heath Gator Invitational this upcoming weekend, with the first match against Grove City set for 8:30 a.m. on Saturday (Sept. 28).
