OBERLIN, Ohio - The Allegheny field hockey team scored a pair of goals, the first two in program history, in a nonconference game against conference foe Oberlin on Tuesday (Sept. 24).
Ramsay Smith (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) scored the first goal in Allegheny field hockey history in the 10th minute of the game, giving Allegheny its first lead of the season. After a trio of Oberlin goals,
Hannah Sharp (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) tallied the second goal for the Gators in the 60th minute, with the assist going to
Becca Winton (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle).
Allegheny took a program-high 12 shots compared to five from Oberlin. The Gators also forced seven penalty corners, including five in the final period.Â
Kelsey Anderson (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) and
Faythe Schulte (Warwick, R.I./Rocky Hill) led the way with three shots apiece, with one on target for both. Smith followed with two, and the quartet of
Kinsley Greenlaw (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford), Sharp, Winton, and
Zoey Dudek (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) each taiied one shot.
Allegheny returns to Meadville on Saturday (Sept. 28) for a 12:00 p.m. nonconference game against Denison.
