SPRINGFIELD, Pa. - The Allegheny field hockey team traveled to Wittenberg for a nonconference game on Saturday (Sept. 21).
Due to the North Coast Athletic Conference 1.5 round-robin schedule, the Gators will play half the teams twice, with only the second game counting as conference game.
The Gators fell 6-0, despite the impressive showing by the goalie tandem of
Hallie Reiger (Oklahoma City, Okla./Casady) and
Heather Amancio (San Diego, Calif./Patrick Henry). The pair combined for 13 saves. Amancio made eleven saves during the second and fourth period, while Reiger stopped the remaining two in the first and third periods.
Defensive saves by
Hannah Sharp (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and
Danielle Thompson (Eden, N.Y./Eden) upped the save total to 15 for the Gators.
The Gators also added two penalty corners, both occuring in the second half.
Allegheny returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 24) as they travel to Oberlin for a nonconference matchup.
