MEADVILLE, Pa.—The Allegheny College men's tennis team swept Thiel College Monday (April 8) in Meadville.
The sweep marked the third straight for the Gators, and the seventh this season. With the win, the Gators improve to 9-6 on the season while the Tomcats fall to 1-6.
The Tomcats forfeited matches at third doubles and sixth singles.
At first doubles,
Mackenzie Knowlton (Toronto, Ont./Niagara Academy of Tennis) and
Cooper Miller (Falconer, N.Y./Falconer Central) won 8-2 while
Ewan Malenfant (Dover, Del./St. Thomas More) and
Benny Gantrish (Tilton, N.H./Tilton) swept their Thiel counterparts at second doubles, 8-0.
Matt Andrus (Erin, Ont./Erin District) at second singles, Gantrish at third singles and
Fabrizzio Reategui (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Prep International) at fifth singles all won with 6-0, 6-0 marks.
Wonjoon Cho (Wichita, Kan./Witchita Collegiate School) picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles, while at fourth singles, Malenfant won 6-1, 6-2.
The Gators are back in action Thursday (April 11) when they travel to Grove City College for a non-conference game.
