GROVE CITY, Pa.—The Allegheny College men's tennis team swept Grove City College on the road in non-conference play Thursday (April 11).
The sweep marked the second one of the Wolverines this season, and their fourth straight sweep overall. The Gators moved to 10-6 on the season while the Wolverines fell to 8-7.
At first doubles,
Wonjoon Cho (Wichita, Kan./Wichita Collegiate School) and
Matt Andrus (Erin, Ont./Erin District) won 8-3.
Zach Anderson (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) and
Colton Johnson Taylor (Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley) won 8-2 at second doubles.
Mackenzie Knowlton (Toronto, Ont./Niagara Academy of Tennis) and
Cooper Miller (Falconer, N.Y./Falconer Central) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 victory at third doubles.
Cho had a tough match at first singles, but prevailed 6-4, 6-4. At second singles, Andrus won 6-3, 6-1. Johnson Taylor collected 6-2. 6-1 win at third singles while Anderson won 6-1, 6-1 at fourth singles. At fifth singles, Miller swept the opening set before taking the second set 6-2. Knowlton closed out the sweep at sixth singles, winning 6-3, 6-1.
The Gators return to action Saturday (April 13) when they travel to the College of Wooster for a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) match.
