MEADVILLE, Pa.— The Allegheny College men's tennis team hosted Kenyon College in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action at home Sunday (April 14).
 
The Lords, who entered the match ranked fourth in the Central Region and 11
th nationally, won 8-1.
 
Before the match, the Gators honored their three senior players: 
Zach Anderson (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) 
Colton Johnson Taylor (Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley) and 
Mike Siegel (Fairview, Pa./Fairview).
 
At first doubles, 
Wonjoon Cho (Wichita, Kan./Wichita Collegiate School) and 
Matt Andrus (Erin, Ont./Erin District) had a close battle against Anatol Doroskevic and Pascal Lee.  Cho and Andrus had the early advantage, but the Lords duo fought back to tie the match at seven, forcing a tiebreaker.  Doroskevic and Lee had a 4-1 advantage in the tiebreaker before Cho and Andrus fought back to tie it at four.  After the Lords won the next point to regain the lead, the Gators won the final three points to pick up the win.
 
The Lords had three ranked singles players.  At first singles, Cho faced Austin Diehl, ranked eighth in the region. The first set was close, with Diehl winning the last three games to take it 6-4, before he won the second set 6-2. At second singles, Andrus faced Jacob Zalenski, ranked second in the region and 20
th in the country.  Zalenski picked up the win 6-2, 6-2. At third singles, Johnson Taylor took on Nicholas Paolucci, ranked 22
nd in the region.  Paolucci won 6-1, 6-1.
 
The Gators are back in action Thursday (April 18) on the road against Washington & Jefferson in a non-conference match.
