BUFFALO, N.Y.—The Allegheny College women's lacrosse team suffered their first setback of the season as they fell on the road to Buffalo State 13-2 Saturday (March 9).
The Bengals scored the first goal of the game less than five minutes in. The Gators were quick to answer as
Brenna Lawler scored unassisted to tie the game. Buffalo State would add a pair of goals to retake the lead, 3-1. After the third goal, the Gators had a quick response
Mary Allen won the draw control, with
Evi Malagise finding the back of the net seconds later to cut the lead to one. However, the Bengals would go on to keep the Gators off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game to pick up the win.
Malagise and Lawler scored the Gator goals unassisted. Allen won three draw controls, while
Alex Grob had two.
Natalie Sciulli led the Gator defense with two caused turnovers and five groundballs.
Taylor Vigneri and
Steph Shakespeare had two groundballs apiece.
The Gators are back in action Wednesday (March 13) as they host Denison in their North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) and home opener.
