HILTON HEAD, S.C.—The Allegheny College men's tennis team won a pair of matches but ultimately fell 7-2 to the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse Wednesday (March 20) in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Gators first win of the day came at second doubles.
Wonjoon Cho and
Matt Andrus faced Tony Moore and Riley Peterson. Neither team was able to find an advantage, as the teams were tied at seven games apiece, sending the match to a tiebreaker. Cho and Andrus were able to break the La Crosse duo as they won the tiebreaker 7-4 to take the match.
In singles, the Gators picked up a win at the third flight.
Colton Johnson Taylor faced Peterson. Johnson Taylor was able to pick up a 6-3 win in the opening set, before cruising to a 6-2 win in the second set to win the match.
Zach Anderson and Sam Diedrich had a close match at fifth singles. The first set went into a tiebreaker, where Anderson was able to break to take it 7-6 (8-6). Diedrich took the second set 6-3 to send it into a super tiebreaker. The extra set went to Diedrich by a score of 10-6.
