HILTON HEAD, S.C.—The Allegheny College men's tennis team swept Messiah College 9-0 in Hilton Head, S.C. Monday (March 18).
The second doubles team of
Wonjoon Cho and
Matt Andrus were first off the court as they defeated Alex Mantsevich and Bryson Boettger 8-0.
Colton Johnson Taylor and
Mackenzie Knowlton then collected an 8-1 victory A.J. Swanson and Jarod Snader at third doubles.
Cooper Miller and
Zach Anderson completed the doubles sweep with an 8-0 victory over Galen Fitzkee and Andrew Bookman.
At first singles, Cho defeated Fitzkee 6-3, 6-0 in the first finished match. Andrus then bested Mantsevich at second singles 6-3, 6-2 in the clinching match. The next match off the court was fourth singles, where Miller defeated Boettger 6-2,6-1. Knowlton then picked up a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep against Swanson.
The third singles match between Bookman and Johnson Taylor went into a tiebreaker. Johnson Taylor won the opening set 6-2, before Bookman won the second set 6-3. In the tiebreaker, Johnson Taylor took control as he won it 10-3 to win the match.
Anderson closed the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win against Snader at fifth singles, completing the sweep.
The Gators are back in action Wednesday (March 20) as they face the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.
