MEADVILLE, Pa.—The Allegheny College women's basketball team fell in their penultimate home game of the year to Oberlin College, 52-22, Wednesday (Feb. 6) on Faculty Appreciation Night.
The Gators kept it close early, entering the second quarter down 10-7. However, the Yeowomen outscored the Gators 15-6 in the second to take a 25-13 halftime lead.
Oberlin continued to pester the Gator shooters in the second half as they limited the Gators offensive chances. After taking a 39-17 lead into the fourth quarter, the Yeowomen outscored the Gators 13-5 in the fourth to pick up the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) win.
Offensively,
Zoe Soilis and
Julianna Skowron led the Gators with seven points apiece. Skowron also added six rebounds and two steals.
Bailey Matrascia had one of the top games of her season as she finished with six points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Jenna Manke had six rebounds while
Gabby Culotta finished with five.
Olivia Canning led Oberlin with 12 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks. Cheyenne Arthur was also in double figures with 10 points.
The Gators are back in action Saturday (Feb. 9) as they travel to Denison University for a NCAC contest.
