MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Junior
Rylee Donovan (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area) came off the bench in her third game back from an injury to score 21 points as the Allegheny women's basketball team improved to 2-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action with a 65-60 win over Wooster.
With the win, the Gators move to 5-4 overall this season and are 2-0 in NCAC play for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign.
Donovan finished 6-of-8 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from three-point range, while also converting 6-of-10 from the charity stripe. The 21-point effort marked the fourth time the junior has scored 20 or more points in a collegiate game. Additionally, she tied for the team high with seven rebounds, and added three assists, three blocks and three steals.
Zoe Youdell (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville Area) had her second double-digit game in a row as she scored 14 points.
Brooke Smith (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell) added nine points to go along with three rebounds and a steal.Â
Julianna Skowron (Sewickley, Pa./Oakland Catholic) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and led the Gators with four steals.
Alexis Caldwell (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) totaled seven points and a trio each of rebounds, assists, and steals.Â
The Gators earned a game-high 14 steals, and made 39.3% of their shots, compared to 26.9% for the Fighting Scots. Allegheny also held Wooster to a 9.1% clip from beyond the arc, while making 25% of its own triples.
Allegheny is back in action for a road nonconference game at Fredonia on Tuesday (Dec. 10), slated for 6:00 p.m.
