FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Allegheny women's basketball team was unable to hold a halftime lead as it dropped a 66-58 nonconference decision at Fredonia on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
The Gators raced out to a 23-5 lead after one quarter, and held a 39-19 advantage at intermission. Fredonia was able to shave 15 points off the deficit in the third quarter by way of a 23-8 showing. In the fourth, the guests held the lead until the 4:46 mark of the period when a jumper gave the Blue Devils a 57-56 lead they would not relinquish.
Zoe Youdell (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville Area) led four Gators in double digits with 16 points, the sixth time she's reached double figures in her freshman campaign and one off her career high.
Julianna Skowron (Sewickley, Pa./Oakland Catholic) was second on the team with 14 points and six rebounds and classmate
Rylee Donovan (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) tallied her fifth career double-double -- and first since Dec. 5 last year at Wooster -- by posting 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Alexis Caldwell (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) added 10 points and four boards.
The Gators (5-5 overall) will now have a 20-day layoff for finals and the holidays before hosting Waynesburg in the final nonconference game of the 2019-20 season at 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30.
