MEADVILLE, Pa. - The Allegheny women's basketball team dropped a nonconference game to Carnegie Mellon, 62-42, on Tuesday (Nov. 19).
The Gators led 15-14 after the first period, but a 17-5 run by the Tartans to end the half put the deficit at 11 heading into the locker rooms. The Tartans would then outscore the Gators 31-22 in the second have to put the final score at 62-42.
Zoe Soilis (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) led the Gators with 16 points, her third straight game with double digits to begin the season.
Julianna Skowron (Sewickley, Pa./Oakland Catholic) also tallied double-digit points with 10, to add to her nine rebounds.
Zoe Youdell (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville) matched Skowron's team-high nine rebounds, and added seven points.
Alexis Caldwell (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) controlled the point with a team-high three assists, while Soilis,
Chloe Rabold (Baden, Pa./Ambridge), and
Brooke Smith (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell) each added a pair of assists.
Allegheny is back in action as they travel to Penn State Behrend on Thursday (Nov. 21) for a 6:00 p.m. nonconference showdown.
