Soilis scores 34 points to push Gators past Lions, 91-82

ERIE, Pa. - Zoe Soilis (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) scored a career-high 34 points to lead the Allegheny women's basketball team past Penn State Behrend, 91-82, on Thursday (Nov. 21).

The last time the Gators scored at least 91 points in a game was one year ago yesterday, in a 96-90 overtime win over Washington & Jefferson on November 21, 2018.

The Gators expanded on four point lead (25-21) at the end of the first period to head into the lockers at halftime up by 10 with the score at 48-38. A 14-7 Allegheny run ended the half, highlighted by six points from freshman Zoe Youdell (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville Area) and five points by Soilis. They then expanded on this lead with nine straight points to open the second half, putting the score at 57-38.

Allegheny would lead by as many as 19 in the second half, with the last time coming at 2:50 left in the third period, with the score at 69-50.

Soilis led all scorers with 34 points, as she hit 10-of-19 shots from the floor and 6-of-9 from beyond the three-point line. Alexis Caldwell (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) followed with 18 points to add to her team-high six assists.

Jenna Manke (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) also registered a career-high in points with 14 as she connected on seven of her eight shots in her first collegiate start while also pulling in a team-high six rebounds. Youdell and Chloe Rabold (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 14 and 12, respectfully.

As a team, the Gators shot 56.9 percent (29-of-51) from the floor and 62.5 percent from beyond the arc (10-of-16). They also connected on 23 of their 32 free throws.

The Gators are back in action as they travel to Westminster on Saturday (Nov. 23) for a 1:30 p.m. nonconference showdown.
