Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Gators score twice in second half to surge past Terriers

MEADVILLE, Pa. - A pair of second half goals by Owen Harkins (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Danny Reid (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme) pushed the Allegheny men's soccer team past Hiram for a 2-0 win on Tuesday (Oct. 22).

The Gators earned a corner in the 70th minute, one of five they would earn on the night. Jorge Olan (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) beaded a ball towards the near post which the goalie attempted to clear. Instead, he knocked the ball right to a waiting Harkins who pushed it over the line for the goal.

Six minutes later, a handball in the box granted Allegheny a penalty shot, which Reid planted to the goalie's left for the score.

Allegheny led in multiple offensive categories with an advantage in shots (15-12), corners (5-3), and possession percentage (54%).

Nick Ferreira (Chester, N.Y./Warwick Valley) earned the win in net as he made six saves.

Reid led the offense with four shots and the quartet of Olan, Harkins, Dillon Thoma (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny), and Eddie Opalko (Springdale, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) each had two.

The Gators are back in action for their final home game of the regular season this Saturday (Oct. 26) for senior day as they host DePauw at 12:00 p.m.
