MEADVILLE, Pa.—The Allegheny College volleyball team closed out play at their 2018 Gator Invitational, part of the Northwestern PA Collegiate Challenge, Saturday (Sept. 8).
The Gators fell in their final two games of the tournament to Marietta College and Mount Union College.
Marietta 3, Allegheny 0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-13)
The Gators fell in straight sets to the Pioneers to open the day.
Rebecca MacQuarrie led the Gators with eight kills.
Tamara Babic and Megha Uht had three kills apiece while
A'Jhana Dicko,
Alysha Crowther and Elzabeth Debich had two apiece.
Olivia D'Andrea and
Rachel Slotterback had aces.
Slotterback recorded 14 digs in the match.
Raelynn Dorscheid had eight digs while
Eden Merkle had seven.
Hunter Barnes led Marietta with six kills, while Sam Ritenour had five. Ellie Gerber had a match-high four aces. Defensively, April Davis had 14 digs while Abbi Thompson had 11.
Mount Union 3, Allegheny 0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-9)
Grace Lenguaer led the Gators in match two with seven kills. MacQuarrie,
Jyl Russotti and Debich had two kills each. Lengauer and Merkle served aces.
Similar to their first game, Slotterback led the Gators with 13 digs. Merkle finished with nine.
Marlee Peck, Kyleigh Jackson, Madelin DiBease and Breanna Arnett all had six kills for Moiunt Union. Defensively, DiBease added 12 digs.
The Gators are back in action Tuesday (Sept. 11) when they travel to Ohio to face John Carroll University for a nonconference match.
