OBERLIN, Ohio— The Allegheny College women's tennis team opened their 2018-19 schedule at the 10
th Annual Oberlin Invitational.
Amanda Ress Liere and
Miharu Koh picked up a win in the doubles tournament. They faced Ellie Cole and Tori Price of John Carroll University. The teams traded the games in regulation which led to a 7-7 standstill. In the tiebreaker, Ress Liere and Koh were dominant in the tiebreaker, taking it 7-2 to win the match.
The Gators also picked up a pair of wins in the singles tournament. For the singles matches, they played four-game sets.
Hannah Schaffer faced Kayleigh Cummins of Ohio Northern University. Schaffer took set one 4-1 before wrapping up the win with a 4-2 set two score.
Candace Burkhammer also picked up a singles win for the Gators as she faced Rebecca LaRue of the College of Wooster. Burkhammer took the first set 4-2. The players traded games in the second set which led to a tiebreaker. Burkhammer controlled the flow of the extra session as she picked up a 7-3 tiebreak win.
The Gators continue action at Oberlin Sunday (Sept. 9).
