PAC Release

TRAFFORD, Pa. -- Two members of the Allegheny College women's tennis team received weekly awards from the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) following an undefeated week with three conference wins.

Chanel Brun (Aix-en-Provence, France/Fox Chapel (Pa.)) was named the PAC Player of the Week, while teammate Claire Terefe (Dallas, Texas/Texas Online Preparatory School) was tabbed the Newcomer of the Week. Together, they went undefeated with 14 wins, helping the Gators defeat Washington and Jefferson College, Grove City College, Penn State Behrend, and Saint Vincent College.

Brun outscored her doubles opponents 18-3 and her singles opponents 48-9 throughout the week. She filled out each of the top four spots in the singles lineup, highlighted by a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Saint Vincent's No. 1 player, Rachel Zgurich. Brun dropped only two games in a 6-1, 6-1 defeat of Behrend's Enisa Siljkovic in the second spot. She was a double-winner on Saturday as the Gators handed Grove City its first loss of the year, 5-2.

Terefe had a busy weekend, playing in all three matches on Saturday and Sunday. In singles, she outscored her three opponents, 36-3. She capped the week with a clean 6-0, 6-0 victory over SVC's Sydney McWreath in No. 2 singles. Against Grove City, Terefe beat Iris Kiehl with identical 6-1 sets. In doubles, she picked up a trio of No. 1 wins, including a 6-0 shutout of the Bearcats alongside Brun on Sunday.

Allegheny women's tennis has already secured the PAC regular-season title and home-court advantage throughout the conference tournament. The Gators conclude their fall regular-season schedule on Tuesday, October 13, with a 4:30 p.m. contest at Franciscan University.
