Gators Play Denison to a Scoreless Draw in NCAC Action

GRANVILLE, Ohio—The Allegheny College men's soccer team played Denison University to a scoreless draw to open North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Saturday (Sept. 22) in Granville, Ohio.

The Gators earned the first scoring chances of the day when Ryan Clydesdale had a pair of shots in the fourth minutes but was turned away.  Twelve minutes later, the teams traded shots on goal but neither were able to breakthrough.

Before the end of the half, Nick Taliani and Jacob LeSane put shots on net but were saved.

The Big Red had their best scoring chance on the day in the 48th minute on an Eric Buer header, but Gator goalkeeper Nick Ferreira made the stop.  Ten minutes later, the Gators had their best shot when Owen Harkins headed a Danny Reid header on net but hit the crossbar.

The teams continued to trade shots throughout the remainder of regulation, but the score remained tied after 90 minutes of play.

The Big Red had a good chance in the 95th minute to break up the scoreless affair, but the Gators blocked a shot following a corner.  Late in the first overtime, Ferreira made another save to keep the game tied.

Denison pressured the Gator defense early in the second overtime but were unable to generate a shot attempt.

In the 106th minute, an Erik Orta shot got passed the Denison goalie, but a defensive player kept the ball from crossing the line as the game ended 0-0 after 110 minutes.

Ferreira made six saves for the Gators, while his Denison counterpart Dylan Brown also made six stops.

The Gators return to action Tuesday (Sept. 25) as they travel to Geneva for a non-conference match.
