BEAVER FALLS, Pa.—The Allegheny College men's soccer team fell in non-conference action to Geneva College, 3-1, Tuesday (Sept 25) on the road.
The Golden Tornados tested the Gators early, but
Nick Ferreira made a pair of saves.
Danny Reid had the first scoring chance by the Gators but his shot in the 11
th minute was turned away.
Geneva got on the board in the 17
th minute on an Alex Yoder shot after the ball bounced around the box. After some back-and-forth play, the Golden Tornadoes scored again in the 36
th minute when Trevor Smith knocked in a cross from Jake Broadwick.
Both teams had shots early in the second half but neither could place them on net until
Kristian Snyder had a shot saved in the 60
th minute.
Erik Orta and
Jon Sion had shots saves before Geneva extended the lead to 3-0. Chase Baxa scored the goal off an Avery Wenger assist.
Late in the game, the Gators brought the lead down to 3-1 when Sion took advantage of a failed clear. The goal marked Sion's fourth of the year.
The Gators are back in action Saturday (Sept. 29) when they host Wabash College in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play.
