HILTON HEAD, S.C.—The Allegheny College men's tennis team continued its spring break trip in Hilton Head with an 8-1 win over Juniata College Wednesday (March 21).
The match started with singles, where the Gators had a clean 6-0 sweep.
At first singles,
Jai Redkar defeated Matyas Kohout 6-1, 6-4.
Colton Johnson Taylor captured the second singles win over Daichai McAuliffe-Uchida 6-2, 6-2.
Mike Siegel and Owen Grafe had a close match at third singles. The opening set went to a tiebreaker, which Siegel prevailed in 7-4. Similar to the first, the second set also went into a tiebreaker but this time Grafe picked up the set with a 7-3 win. The superbreaker was just as close as the opening two sets, but Siegel was able to break to take it 11-9.
Mackenzie Knowlton won the fifth singles flight against Jason Gerber 6-3, 6-2 while
Jacob Stringer wrapped up the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 win at sixth singles against Rory Donaldson.
Zach Anderson and Johnson Taylor represented the Gators in the first doubles flight as they defeated Kohout and Dan Ansel 8-6. At third doubles,
Ewan Malenfant and
Niall Kneerim topped McAuliffe-Uchida and Donaldson 8-5.
The Gators are back in action Friday (March 23) in Hilton Head against Union College.
