Allegheny taken down at home by #14 Wittenberg

MEADVILLE, Pa. – A slow shooting start by the Gators, coupled with a hot start by #14 Wittenberg, led to a 92-69 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) loss for the Allegheny men's basketball team.

The visiting Tigers connected on 10 three-pointers in the opening 20 minutes at a 62.5 percent clip and made 56.7 percent (17-of-30) from the floor in the period, while the Gators made just 27 percent (10-of-37) from the field and only hit on 1-of-14 (7.1 percent) shots from beyond-the-arc.

After trailing by a 50-29 margin at halftime, Allegheny battled to a two-point deficit in the second half, 42-40, to set the final tally.

Caden Hinckley led the Gators with 15 points on 5-of-7 from the field and five free throws. His five rebounds were tied for second on the team. Jordan Greynolds added 10 points and was tied with Brian Roberts, Jr. for tops with three assists. Lamar Todd and Billy Urso chipped in nine and eight points, respectively.

The Gators will step out of NCAC action for the final time in 2018-19 when they travel to Grove City for a 5 p.m. nonconference matchup against the Wolverines.
