Gators Drop Nonconference Game to St. Vincent

MEADVILLE, Pa.— The Allegheny College women's basketball team fell in nonconference action 72-51 to St. Vincent College Saturday (Nov. 24) in Meadville.
 
The teams matched each other's opening six points, but a Rylee Donovan three gave the Gators a 9-6 lead.  The Bearcats regained the lead on a 4-0 run, but a Delaney Arbore basket put the Gators back in front.  Down the stretch of the opening frame, the Bearcats went on a 6-3 run as they owned a 16-14 lead heading into the second. 
 
The Bearcats got out to a fast start in the second quarter, as they grew their lead to 25-17 two minutes in.  The Gators cut the lead to 27-24 after a Soilis layup two minutes later, but the Bearcat lead would grow to as much as 10 before the took a 34-29 lead into the locker room.
 
Arbore led the Gators with 10 points in the opening half.  Donovan had six points and eight rebounds.  The Gators hit 12-of-31 shots in the half. 
 
After a St. Vincent three to open the third quarter, Arbore hit a jumper, followed by a Soilis three to cut the deficit to 37-34.  However, the Bearcats responded with a 7-0 run to take a 10-point lead once more.  The Gators shaved four points off the lead as they entered the final quarter down 46-40.
 
The Bearcat lead grew to 12 two minutes into the fourth before a Shannon Relihan layup brought it down to 53-43.  Once again, the Bearcats rattled off a 7-0 run to gain their biggest lead of the game at 60-43.  In the final minutes, the Bearcats continued to pressure the Gators as the lead grew to 21 to pick up the win 72-51.
 
Arbore finished the game with 18 points to go with three rebounds.  Donovan also finished in double-digits with 10 points.  She also added a team-high 10 rebounds and six assists.  Soilis had seven points to go with five rebounds while Kaylah Pinkney added six points and four rebounds. 
 
For the game, the Gators shot 34.4% (21-of-61).  St. Vincent owned a 51-40 advantage in rebounds and forced 20 Allegheny turnovers. 
 
The Bearcats were led by Maria Morgan's 20 points.  Carlee Kilgus had 12 while Madison Kollar added 10.
 
The Gators are back in action Monday (Nov. 26) when they host Westminster College at 7 p.m.
