GREENCASTLE, Ind.—The Allegheny College volleyball team fell in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) match in straight sets at DePauw University Sunday (Oct. 7).
DePauw won the sets 25-9, 25-13, 25-11.
Tamara Babic,
Meghan Uht,
Alysha Crowther and
Grace Lengauer all had a pair of kills apiece.
Olivia D'Andrea assisted on 10 kills.
Defensively,
Rachel Slotterback led the Gators with seven digs, while D'Andrea had six digs.
Eden Merkle had five digs to go with an ace.
Taylor Besch added four digs.
A'Jhana Dicko assisted on four blocks while Uht assisted on three and Debich and Crowther on two.
Suzanne Peters led the Tigers with 16 kills while Morgan Stearley had 11. Stearley also added 15 digs while Jenna Purichia had 14.
In the opening set, the Tigers jumped out to a 6-0 lead and did not look back as they held the Gators to just nine points. In the second set, the Tigers took a 10-3 lead before the Gators rattled off three straight points to cut the lead to 10-6. DePauw responded with four straight points to regain control. After the lead grew to 23-9, the Gators won four straight points before the Tigers closed out the set. The momentum carried over to the third set for DePauw as they limited the Gator attackers as they closed out the set.
The Gators are back in action Wednesday (Oct. 10) as they play host to the College of Wooster in NCAC action.
